Here at Nala Boo, all baby and toddler wear and accessories are designed and manufactured by a kiwi mum for kiwi kids. Where possible each item has been made from bamboo fibres - wovens, jersey knits, towelling fabrics and yarns; each lovingly handcrafted.

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is natures little gem.  It is a grass not a tree (Moso bamboo), which grows very quickly, yet is very strong.  With antifungal and antibacterial properties that help protect the plant from disease; it is widely believed that these properties remain in the fibres even after being made into fabrics and yarns.

It is absorbent; in some fabrics up to 3 times it own weight.

One of the great things about bamboo is it is fast growing, making it a sensible environmental choice.


As much as bamboo is a hardy plant; once the fibres have been gathered (similar manufacturing methods to flax), it is incredibly soft; some compare it to silk, other to cashmere.  The structure of the fibres make it softer than other plant fibres, yet leaving it breathable, it dispels odours, and keeps you warm in the winter and cool in summer.

Therefore bamboo is an eco-friendly, renewable resource that is pure luxury and ideal for our precious little ones.
